NEWSLETTER SEPTEMBER 2017

On Friday the 1st of September we had a small chocolate treat celebration of Spring Day in the studio. For those of you who missed out, let`s greet the green, fresh, new season with this lovely quote by the Bohemian-Austrian poet Rainer Maria Rilke: “Spring has come again. The earth is like a child that knows poems by heart…”

Yet, it`s Springtime and we are brimming with excitement… Our long-awaited Power pump classes have also started, plus another few exciting added changes on our workout schedule. Hope you enjoy it, and feel free to enquire about any class on our program!

Here`s a small recap on our Winter Challenge, just to prove that I kept my word about the prizes. As you`ve probably heard, ALL 88 members who finished successfully indeed received a certificate and a prizeon! So, reflecting on Winter Challenge 2017, you have to agree that you got a lot more than your money`s worth. The lucky winners of the cash prize-jackpot were Christelle de Lange (R3000), Nicolene Reyneke (R1000), and Helga Keulder (R500). Our winners in the different categories were Cecile Jong-Vischer (most kg`s lost), Helga Keulder (biggest drop in fat percentage), Nicolene von Gent(biggest drop in Visceral fat), Nomsa Nzimande(biggest drop in metabolic age), Annelize Prinsloo (biggest improvement in water percentage), Hannelie Slabber and Lungile Gama (most classes done and dusted – 73!), and Phindile Mthembu (Cheerful winter wonder woman). Congratulations, girls! Thank you to each one who had gone through so much trouble to dress up in mind-blowing 80s aerobics outfits on the 15th – you all looked stunning! Madelaine van Niekerk won our give away September free month membership with her extraordinary outfit! (Or was it her dog that captured all the attention…?)

Our Summer Challenge has officially kicked off, and by 10am Friday morning 105 participants have committed so far to be part of another promising venture. Thank you girls, and Thomas. He has made a deal…If he doesn`t reach his personal fitness goals, he will be our male stripper on the evening of the 23rd November… !!!!!! That eventful evening, of course, is our famous end-of-the-year-function, and I can`t wait to see who our Summer Challenge winners will be! The cash prize up for grabs this time? R100 times the amount of successful participants!!!!! And, again, EVERY successful participant wins a prize!!!! May the odds be, THIS TIME, and forever, in your favour. The winners of our Year challenge will also be announced on the evening of the 23rd. Good luck girls, hang in there, I know it`s been a long, tough ride, but there are only 3 more months to go!

(There`s still time till 12 September to join the Summer Challenge if you`ve been procrastinating …☺) Please remember – the Saturday workouts and apparatus sessions are only open to Summer challenge members, and they also have first option for a spot in the Power Pump classes….

As you`ve all probably heard, on Friday evening, the 4th of August we received the exciting news all the way from California that we passed the Booty Barre exam with distinction, thus making our studio the 11th certified Booty Barre studio in South Africa. Most people who haven`t tried a Booty Barre class before, are time and again surprised and overwhelmed by this effective workout. It`s not a dance class, it`s a toning workout with real results! Feel free to contact me if you would like to give it a go.

For those of who missed it the previous time, here are a few technical, important aspects regarding our fees, again:

  • Members who pay their R280 monthly fee pay R20 per Booty Barre class and/or Pilates class IF they book for all the scheduled classes in the month, for example every Wednesday morning or Thursday afternoon.

  • Members on the waiting list and members who only attend some of the classes during the month pay R30 per class.

  • Members who only do Pilates and/or Booty Barre or only ONE Aerobics class per week pay R70 per class.

  • Non-members pay R100 per Booty Barre and/or Pilates class, and R50 per Aerobics class

  • And last, but not least – if you book for a Booty Barre session and cancel less than 6 hours prior to the class, or, don`t pitch, an additional R50 fee has to be paid, regardless the circumstances.

That is the only way this system can operate functionally and effectively, and you can take my word for it, it`s still a bargain. The going rate for Pilates and Booty Barre classes in the city is no less than R120 per class!

Then, please remember that if you book for Apparatus AND Aerobics your fee is R350 per month and a time-slot has to be booked in advance. Members who only want to do a session on the Apparatus now and then pay R50 per session! Please don`t hesitate to contact me or ask if you have any questions regarding the fees.

The studio will be closed on Monday, the 25th of September, on the Public Holiday, but all classes will continue during the short school holiday.

When it comes to our fitness and lifestyle efforts, we are in many ways, in the above words from Rilke, also “like children who know poems by heart.” We know what to do, we know our short-comings, our strengths and the habits we need to change. it`s just a question of committing, and going the distance. May this Springtime be a happy and healthy one, may it be the start of new beginnings, and may all your dreams for 2017 still come true… “Science has indeed never drummed up quite as effective a tranquilizing agent as a sunny spring day…It`s yours, for the taking.” W Earl Halles
